Acknowledgements
The archaeological excavations and other investigations took place with permission from Ghana Museums & Monuments Board and in collaboration with the Department of Archaeology, University of Ghana, Legon. The research was conducted by Professor Klavs Randsborg and Dr. Inga Merkyte, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and sponsored by the Danish Foreign Ministry/DANIDA with a grant to the GDArch programme. The work was carried out by students from the universities of Ghana and Copenhagen, with help from the people of Kasana.
We are particularly obliged to:
Women and men of Kasana - the true force behind the museum, Mr. Braimah Malichi (the Chief of Kasana), Mr. Mallam Musah Braimah, Mr. Iddrisu Bachana and other elders of Kasana;
Mr. Poul Avieli Duon-Naa, the representative from Ghana Museums & Monuments Board;
Tumu City Council and members of the Assembly.
Special thanks go to Yussif Bononmia, the practical entrepreneur of the museum, who is always keeping his word.
The chief of Kasana, Mr. Braimah Malichi (in his casual gear).
Our most efficient team: Bentu & Ladi and their children. It was incredible to see how little Saida was mimicking her mother in every action, unconsciously preparing herself for a tough adulthood as woman and mother. She was even cleaning her playmates’nose, as Ladi, her mother, would do for her.Â
